From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 4 2014 around 6 pm local time the aircraft took off from orlando executive airport (orl) on the way to craig airport (crg) shortly after takeoff and climbing to 5000 feet the pilots started to notice CHT rising on #5 cylinder and engine oil pressure starting to drop. They level off at 3000 ft. and rerouted to Sanford airport (sfb). With engine oil pressure degrading along the way to Sanford the aircraft enter the pattern and landed on runway 27 left short of the runway about 250 feet of the threshold of the runway . About 1000FT prior to touch down the engine quit. This resulted in the aircraft hitting some airfield lighting and damaging the aircraft horizontal stab leading edge. No substantial damage occurred during this indent. The aircraft engine is in the processes of being removed and sent to Continental for detail tear down and inspection for failure .
