From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The amphibious acft landed in lake orienta with the Landing gear down, and partially sank after coming to an abrupt stop. The PIC reported that he had inadvertently lowered the ldg gear when he meant to raise it just before ldg on the lake around 1100 EDT. The airplane nose dug in upon ldg, but the acft remained upright due to the shallow water and slow ldg speed. The cockpit was flooded with water, but the engine and wings reportedly remained above the water.

An exam of acft photos provided by the PIC revealed that the acft damage was minor. The photos were sent to the NTSB, and they concurred with the damage assessment.

As the FAA filed it
