From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After thorough pre-flight and normal run-up, pilot took off at approximately 1515 from runway 8 to practice takeoffs and landings. As the aircraft crossed the threshold, the engine coughed and lost a little altitude. The engine then came back on, but lasted only a moment. Pilot focused attention outside and landed in the field at the end of the runway.

Pilot stated I flared and the main wheels hit the ground first, then bounced up and the nose wheel hit a small rise in the terrain. The nose gear folded back, causing firewall damage. Pilot secured the aircraft and exited the aircraft uninjured.
