From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman privacy data omitted, was performing touch and goes after completing the annual conditional inspection of aircraft N40RR. Upon touch down after the second touch and go, the left main landing gear torque link broke loose from one end and allowed for the landing gear to collapse. The aircraft wing tip struck the ground and the aircraft veered off the side of the runway into the grass and dirt. Damage to the aircraft is limited to a scratched right hand wing tip and damaged landing gear door. The propeller has indications of grass stains. The landing gear torque link which broke was originally installed and upon original manufacture and has not been modified. The reason for the failure has not been determined.
