From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

04/23/2014 - 16:47

Received a call on the FSDO accident duty cell phone from the r.o.c. notifying of a gear-up landing at craig airport, Jacksonville, FL (crg), no injuries, 1 person aboard, registration number was N8950U, Beech BE-95.

P.I.c. stated he inadvertently actuated the flap switch instead of the ldg. Gear switch, heard an electric motor actuation, but did not recall performing a visual check of ldg. Gear position lights prior to ldg. Or hearing the ldg. Warning horn.

Both the flap and ldg. Gear switches are physically the same shape, horizontally positioned in-line with each other on the lwr. Left and right sides of the throttle quadrant panel.

ATC tower controller did not hear any ldg. Gear warning horn sounding during his entire communications with the p.I.c. up to the point of impact with rwy. 14.

Post accident investigation revealed, during a gear swing, that the landing gear warning horn was inoperative.
