The commercially rated pilot stated sinking air caused the glider to drop below its normal glide path and strike a power line that crossed the final approach to the runway. The power line was severed by the gilder and the aircraft landed normally. VFR conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed for this pleasure flight, which originated at the White Sands Regional Airport.
