From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Normal approach and wheel type landing was performed. After the aircraft slowed and the tail wheel had come down the aircraft started an uncommanded turn to the right. Rudder and brake application failed to stop the turn. The aircraft departed the runway and slid into the grass. The increased pressure on the left gear caused by the side load and resistance while in the grass caused strut to bend at chromed barrel. When the gear collasped the left wing dug into the grass and caused wing tip damage. Winds were light and variable.
