From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft arrived at lake anna contrary creek area and made two left hand patterns in preparation for water landing to the ssw (along the long axis of the body of water). Pilot set up for landing following the wake of a boat ahead of him. As he landed he hit a wake and bounced, then settled down on the water a second time. He then hit a large diagonal wake, the right sponson dug into the wake, was ripped off, and then spun the aircraft to the right where it hit, ran up onto, and then came to rest on the dock.
