From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed ckz with full load of skydivers. During climbout smoke appeared in cabin. One or more passengers informed pilot smoke source was right engine. Pilot secured right engine. After consultation with jumpmaster pilot executed single engine climb to safe altitude for skydivers to exit. Pilot then circled airport attempting to diagnose and rectify landing gear problem. Pilot was unable to extend landing gear properly using normal or emergency procedures. Aircraft landed with partially extended gear resulting in minor aircraft damage and no injuries. Subsequent maintenance investigation revealed source of smoke was gear actuating motor and no other pre impact problems. SDR # 2015FA0000268 submitted by aircraft owner.
