From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot written statement: I was flying with a local charter pilot in Challis to various strips around the middle fork of the salmon river. My family owns a ranch accessible only by plane back there, and I was wanting to get comfortable with the approaches and strips in the area. We landed at my family's place there at around 10:00 am or so, and while we were motoring to the end of the runway to turn around and take off again the right brake line failed at the coupler. That particular end of the runway has a slight left slope, and due to the braking differential we rolled off of the left side of the runway. We were likely going around 5 miles per hour. The terrain off the side was uneven enough that the nose wheel folded back under the airplane and there we stopped. The damage to the plane is the obvious nose wheel which folded under, a dented lower cowl, and a prop strike.

As the FAA filed it
