What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The pilot was attempting to land on runway 23 at the Oak Island (ksut) airport. The winds were predominately aligned with the runway but gusting up to 17 knots. On the initial round out the aircraft dropped and bounced and on the secondary bounce the nose wheel impacted the runway surface first which caused the nose gear strut to collapse and subsequently caused the prop strike and engine stoppage.
