From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot attempted to land an evector-Aerotechnik Sportstar Sl, N163PH on runway 03 at Orange County Airport (kmgj). The pilot reported flaring too high while attempting to land and the airspeed was rapidly diminishing. Consequently, a high rate of descent had developed, leading to a very hard landing. The resulting force of impact caused the aircraft to balloon two times. While "porpoising", the propeller made contact with the runway. The nose gear collapsed on the second bounce and was driven backwards into the belly of the aircraft causing substantial damage to the firewall and damage to the fuselage. The aircraft finally came to rest on the runway. There were no passengers onboard. No other property damage or injury to persons were reported.

As the FAA filed it
