From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During subsequent flight following a tail wheel endorsement, the pilot, who was in the front seat of a tandem seat airplane, was doing short-field landings. On the third landing at W27 the airplane started to veer left. Both the pilot and a CFI, who had given the tail wheel endorsement, who was in the back seat, applied right braking to correct the left veer and then as the airplane slowed on roll out both pilots applied braking action causing the airplane to tip on its nose. Both pilots exited the airplane with no injuries and righted the airplane.

As the FAA filed it
