From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 18, 2015, christopher sheffield was the pilot in command of N936BW, a cherokee six, PA-32-260. While arriving at khgr, Hagerstown, from koxb, ocean city in the late afternoon winds were reported as variable. Coming in on runway 27 he applied full rudder and tried to keep centerline. As he touched down the plane immediately went to the left. He was not sure if it was the result of some unexpected wind shear or touching down while still in rudder use, but the unreported wind was a factor during the approach and landing. The plane went off the left side of the runway and back on the runway, clipping two runway lights. He immediately reported it to the control tower. The tower asked if I needed any assistance, which he did not, and taxied to hangar 12D. There were no injuries and the damage to N936BW was minor.
