What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Pilot stated he was taking off from a soft beach surface across the inlet from Ninilchik, and during rollout for take-off, heard something strike the aircraft. At liftoff the elevator was stuck in the pitch nose up position. Pilot attempted to power down to reduce the pitch nose up condition, and pushed yoke forward. The aircraft control broke to the pitch nose down position and the aircraft then impacted the ground shearing off the nose landing gear, causing a propeller strike and substantial damage to the aircraft. After egressing from the aircraft the pilot saw a piece of a stick with paint on it from the aircraft and realized that the elevator system had been damaged by the stick.
