From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 25 at approximately 20:27 PDT N805SH departed from runway 30 at San Carlos Airport, San Carlos, California (ksql). After crossing the departure end of the runway the engine began to shudder and shortly thereafter quit altogether. The pilot stated he was approximately 200 to 300 feet AGL and elected to land straight ahead into a non-developed overgrown lot. The aircraft touch down approximately 0.28 NM from the departure end of the runway on a heading of 300 degrees and came to rest approximately 300 feet later. During landing the landing roll the nose wheel separated from the axial and subsequently the front nose gear collapsed. The sole occupant exited the aircraft with no injuries.
