From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Instructional flight. Student in front seat. Instructor had controls for landing. After clearing object on the end of runway (parked glider) the aircraft was at 30 ft. AGL and 70 knots airspeed and encountered gust/rotor that was a strong updraft to the right. The pilot corrected with full left controls, barely clipping a tree branch with the right wing. The glider decended toward the runway and landed wings level, possibly encountered downdraft and headwind gust. The glider seemed to mush in with a slow ground speed. There was a fairley hard impact with landing gear damage. The passenger complained of back pain.
