From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft took off runway 19, and at approximately 50 ft above ground level the engine quit. The pilot attempted a restart and the engine momentarily restarted for 2 or 3 seconds then lost power before going into the cornfield at the south end of the runway.

Ddg flm cmh: performed initial investigation, pilot indicated he had full fuel (10) gal which was verified. Owner had recently changed the carburator but it had not flown yet. Possible cause due to a very hot/humid day which may have led to carburetor icing.
