During cruise flight, witnesses indicate that the engine sputtered and quit, then restarted and aircraft gained altitude, then the engine quit again, upon desending toward a field, the aircraft spiraled to the ground.

DURING CRUISE FLIGHT, WITNESSES INDICATE THAT THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND QUIT, THEN RESTARTED AND AIRCRAFT GAINED ALTITUDE, THEN THE ENGINE QUIT AGAIN, UPON DESENDING TOWARD A FIELD, THE AIRCRAFT SPIRALED TO THE GROUND.
