From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Mishap pilot (mp) departed a private gravel strip at approximately 1340L. Witnesses stated watching the mp climb out at a 'steeper than normal' climb, leveled off at approximately 500' and made a left 270 degree turn and flew over the hangar where the witnesses were standing. Mp did a steep bank to the left and pitched up. Witness stated "much steeper climb and roll than I've ever seen." Aircraft appeared to have stalled and witness lost sight of it as it descended below the trees.

Engine was heard at "full throttle/rpm" when impact occurred. Aircraft was burning when local help arrived with fire bottles. Mp appeared to be deceased. The flames spread to the left fuel tank and fully engulfed the cockpit.
