From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airline training center Arizona (atca) was performing a training flight from goodyear, AZ (gyr) to Marana, AZ (avq) when during short final to runway 12 the student pilot flared too high, but nosed down the aircraft and continued the short final. The student pilot then flared too high a second time, but this time the aircraft began to stall and the left wing dipped and the aircraft drifted to the left of the runway. The CFI took over the controls and added power, but not before the left main wheel made contact with gravel on the side of the runway and the left wing made contact with a burm just before the aircraft began to climb out. The CFI then made a go-around and landed without further incident. The atca repair station inspected the aircraft and determined that the left wing tip trailing edge and the left aileron outboard trailing edge were bent, but there was no evidence of any damage to the left wing or any of the components on the left main landing gear. The left wing tip and left aileron were replaced and the aircraft was returned to service. Due to the damage to the left aileron, this event has been clasified as an accident by the NTSB.
