From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

^Mr. Collins^ stated he was the sole occupant of the aircraft and its PIC at the time of the accident. The purpose of the flight was to scatter the ashes of a deceased pilot / friend. The bag of ashes began to come apart. The PIC let go of the stick to try and contain the ashes. The nose of the aircraft dropped and the aircraft struck the ground. The left main landing gear bent and broke on the first impact, the aircraft bounced, and came down breaking the left main landing gear from the aircraft on the second impact. Investigation revealed that the aircraft's firewall had been bent by the impacts.
