From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A student pilot and flight instructor pilot were returning from the west practice area 12 miles from kism. Descending though 2000FT. Moderate to severe turbulence was encountered. The 1750Z ATIS reported 340 at 10 KTS gusting to 15. During the final approached the flight instructor was at the controls and conducted a little faster than normal at 75 KTS on base slowing to 65 KTS. On finals with 20 degrees flaps when the aircraft touched down on the main wheels, then ballooned into the air. The flight instructor held back on the control column and added a little power then the aircraft then bounced onto the nose wheel, which resulted in the nose wheel assembly sheared off. The flight instructor closed the throttle immediately and the aircraft came to a stop and flight crew informed the tower that we needed assistance and secured the aircraft.
