From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After completion of run-up the PIC for N491ER called Daytona ATCT and stated that he was number two, in sequence, ready for takeoff runway 25R at N9 intersection. After a few minutes, N491ER received a clearance from Daytona atcat to takeoff runway 25R at N9. The PIC hesitated and was thinking about what to do because he was number two in sequence. Aircraft number one in sequence N445ER tried to clarify with the controller their last transmission since they were number one. Without hesitation, Daytona ATCT controller stated again that N491ER was cleared for takeoff, which was actually number two in line, behind N445ER. After receiving his takeoff clearance N491ER attempted to maneuver around N445ER who was positioned in front of him. During the maneuvering around N445ER the PIC thought that he was cleared of all obstructions. This was not the case and the left wing (leading edge) of N491ER struck the right wing (aft/right portion) of N445ER.

The NTSB has identified this as an incident and has not assigned an NTSB number to this investigation.

Other has been selected as a corrective action because embry-riddle has an active asap program and this incident will be handled thru this program.

As the FAA filed it
