From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot reported that the he experienced a rough running engine while at cruise. He advised potomac TRACON of the situation while receiving flight following and was directed to the nearest airport of esn. The pilot stated that he performed the approach at higher than normal speed, due to the lack of power from the engine, and bounced on the runway multiple times striking the prop. Both propeller blades had been bent over from the strike and been dislodged from the prop hub. Upon internal inspection of the engine, a broken valve was found on the #4 cylinder. Consulted with operations inspector for recommendation. At this time the iic recommends a 44709 re-exam on emergency procedures and landings.
