From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot was in cruise flight level at 4500 feet AGL when he noticed the engine operating roughly. Seconds later oil started discharging from the engine compartment onto the widshield. With fear of engine fire the pilot shut down the engine and begin an emergency descent into a nearby field. The pilot stated all guages and indications were normal before shutdown. The pilot was able to successfully glide to a landing into the field where the front landing gear collapsed and caused the aircraft to flip over where it came to rest upside down. Witness on the ground stated he witnessed the aircraft heading toward the field from the north at a low altitude with the prop not turning before the aircraft landed.
