From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A Beech 35-C33 registered as N2718T enroute from lagrange ga (klgc) to Naples FL (kapf) was receiving vectors for landing at kapf when the pilot heard a loud bang followed by violent vibrations in the engine area. The pilot reduced power to the engine in an effort to lower the effect of vibrations on the aircraft. The pilot made a determination that it would not be possible to land at kapf and an off field location was selected. The pilot explained he did not elect to place the gear down on the aircraft in the hope of a shorter landing roll and landed the aircraft on a road north east of kapf. The pilot and 3 other occupants exited the aircraft uninjured.
