From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 04/01/2016, privacy data omitted had departed pne alone in his Piper meridian, N31LA. At approximately 18:00 local, he was landing on runway 01 at rut. The wind was out of 350 degrees and just as he touched down there was a very strong wind gust from the west (frontal passage). He said: ?the aircraft sort of hopped? And he had to quickly react in order to keep it on the runway. He could feel the left MLG tire was flat as he rolled to the north end of rwy 01. He turned right off the runway to taxiway e and stopped. Unfortunately, he stopped before he had crossed the ?hold-short? Marking, so he was technically still blocking the runway. A NOTAM was immediately issued to close runway 01. As a result, the scheduled, inbound capeair flight #71 could not land at rut and diverted to leb. The passengers were transported to rut by ground/surface transport. The damage was limited to the left tire and tube. The A&P mechanic (scott drapper) said the valve stem was broken off, but the wheel had not been damaged. privacy data omitted Was alone in the aircraft, there were no injuries. The runway was closed for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

As the FAA filed it

ON 04/01/2016, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD DEPARTED PNE ALONE IN HIS PIPER MERIDIAN, N31LA. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS ALONE IN THE AIRCRAFT, THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE RUNWAY WAS CLOSED FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES.
