From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 26, 216 at approximately 1420 hours local a Cessna 421B taxied to the runway to depart on a personal trip to west Georgia regional airport in mount zion to meet a friend. The aircraft proceeded down runway 18 and left the ground at the threshold barely clearing the airport outer fence. The aircraft was unable to gain sufficient altitude to clear the trees less than ¼ of a mile south of the runway. The aircraft began hitting tree tops at approximately 1424 hours local and impacted a large oak tree with left wing causing it to spin into 2 other large oak trees 30 feet to the southwest. The aircraft flipped over and was approximately 15 to 20 feet off the ground before exploding and being consumed by fire. The pilot jumped from the rear entry door and landed on his back. Pilot refused medical attention and sustained burns and a cut to his left hand.
