From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A private pilot was in route from fullerton airport (ful) to brackett field (poc) under visual flight rules (VFR). The pilot contacted poc air traffic control tower (ATCT) informing them he was inbound for landing and was assigned runway 26L. Approximately two and one half miles south west of poc, the aircraft experienced engine failure in flight. The pilot contacted poc ATCT and informed them that he had an engine failure and was going to circle in order to find a place to land. Moments later the pilot reported the engine had restarted. A few moments later the pilot reported to ATCT the engine had failed once more and he was changing fuel tanks preparing for an emergency landing. The pilot located an industrial park and prepared for an off airport landing in the adjacent parking lot. The aircraft over shot the parking lot and impacted on a roof top of one of the buildings within the industrial park. There was no post impact fire and the pilot was able to exit the aircraft. The pilot received a broken leg as a result of the accident.

As the FAA filed it
