From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N3506M, a 1947 Piper PA-12 super cruiser departed Simsbury Airport, CT (4B9) around 6:00 pm. ^Mr. Ralph e. jones, certificate no. 3571928, owner/^pilot and his son ^tucker jones^ took off from 4B9 for a half hour sightseeing tour. Upon return to Simsbury Airport N3506M entered the pattern on a downwind for runway 3 left base. There was a Cessna holding short of the runway. ^Mr. Jones^ communicated to the Cessna that N3506M would land on the grass left of the runway. N3506M touched down long and fast in deep grass and bounced twice . ^mr jones^ decided a "go around" would be best. Applying full throttle trying to take off, N3506M didn't gain enough altitude and hit a split rail fence, crossing over floydville road impacting low trees across the road. N3506M topped over the trees and came to rest upside down in a local nursery. No injuries were reported.
