From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Student pilot was receiving instruction in light sport VMC in a home built aircraft. The aircraft was cleared for departure on rwy 32 and began a takeoff roll with the student at the controls. The aircraft began to veer off the runway to the left as the instructor proceeded to take the controls to regain position. The aircraft exited the runway before the instructor could regain control, causing the landing gear to collapse in the SOP. The prop also made contact with the sod as the aircraft came to a complete stop.
