What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
While practicing emergency manuevers for a private pilots single-engine commercial certificate, the CFI and private pilot discussed procedures for a power-off landing at Hood River airport (4S2). At 5500 feet south of 4S2, during discussion, they were monitoring clear of other traffic, pulled the throttle back, and overrode the auto gear down feature to extend the glide. At about 2500' the private pilot lined up for rwy 25 while performing 360 degree manuevers to reduce altitude. There was discussion about performing another 360 to further reduce altitude. The landing proceded with the landing gear in the up position on to rwy 25. The airplane landed tail skid first then the belly. The prop struck the rwy approximately six times before the engine stopped. The airplane slid approximately 400' before stopping just left of the centerline. Both pilots exited immediately without injury. All controls were secured after it was determined there was no further danger.
