From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot took off from a private field and had gotten to an altitude of approximately 200FT. He made a turn to the left to head back to the airport and when attempting to roll right to level off, he noticed his controls were heavier than normal. He attempted to get the aircraft to roll right, during this time he realized that he was losing altitude and was going to go into some trees. At this time he impacted the tress and the aircraft ended up hitting nose down with the aircraft in a vertical position amongst the trees. He realized during egress of the wreckage that the engine was not running. A witness that saw the aircraft take off and watched the flight stated that the engine had stopped running just prior to the accident.
