From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

August 4th, 2016, 19:45PM eastern time, the pilot, along with one passenger, took off from kgeo on runway 18 heading south bound on a local flight. Approximately, 15 minutes into the flight, around the Russellville Ohio area, the pilot heard and felt a loud bang from under the engine covering (cowling). He tried to maintain altitude while turning back to kgeo. After 5-10 seconds, the aircraft was no longer producing power. He then picked the closest, safest field to land. At 20:04 pm, he landed in soy bean field. When landing, his nosewheel struck an unseen drainage ditch in the field which caused the aircraft to flip on its top.
