From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilots of N63PL were on a cross-country flight from creve coeur, MO (1H0) to Mexico memorial, MO (myj) and back to creve coeur to practice instrument approaches. When they arrived back at creve coeur they performed a vor-a approach with a couple of stop and goes. Pilot stated they did a gumps checklist but did not use the formal checklist. On the last takeoff the engine lost power shortly after 200FT AGL and eventually quit. Pilot landed on highway without incident.

Recommend remedial training in the areas of fuel planning and fuel management. Also, training on the fuel system in the Piper.
