From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While flying (N5301H)

On solo cross-country flight from lgb (long beach) to F70 (french valley), at 5,500 MSL. While over lake matthews, the engine RPM fluctuated from 2,400 to 1,000 RPM. It was suspected carburetor ice so carburetor heat was applied. The problem did not improve immediately, so the PIC decided to divert to the nearest airport, ral (Riverside). The PIC declared an emergency, and requested a diversion to ral. The aircraft landed without incident.
