From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The decedent was acting as jumpmaster for a group of static line jumpers with military type parachutes. He did not intend to jump and did not have his static line connected. His reserve parachute was accidently deployed in the aircraft and he was pulled from the aircraft by the slipstream, striking and damaging the aircraft fuselage. It appears that the decedent was incapacitated after striking the aircraft and was unable to attempt to deploy the main parachute.

Aircraft retuned to X-35 and landed without incident.

As the FAA filed it
