From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot was attempting to land at tri-city airport(3G6). As he approached the runway he landed on the grass about 4-6 feet from the pavement. The pavement is elevated approximate 6 inches higher than the grass. His nose wheel struck the edge of the pavement and broke off. The pilot said he had applied power and when the aircraft bounced, he took flight again and executed a go-around. A witness radioed him and informed him of his nose wheel that was missing. He circled the airport and attempted to land on the grass next to the runway. The aircraft landed and when the front landing wheel strut made contact with the grass, it dug into the ground, which caused the aircraft to flip over.

As the FAA filed it
