From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The hot air balloon attempted to land in a field on the south side of an apartment complex. During final descent, a sudden wind shift occurred. The pilot responded by increasing his rate of descent to land and avoid further drifting. When the balloon basket touched down, it bounced and returned to the air. The wind continued to blow the basket and envelope to the north, coming to a final stop onto an iron fence/retention wall with the envelope deflating and draping on the roof of an apartment building.
