From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On March 17, 2017 N2691V ran into a ditch located between the mid-ramp and the area where transient aircraft tie down. The only damage to the aircraft was an antenna that got knocked off. The pilot stated that he was taxiing out and unfamilar with the airport. He was following the lead line and did not see the drainage ditch until it was too late. He was able to stop the engine to avoid a prop strike.

Airport maintenance brought equipment over, rigged the aircraft and pulled it out of the ditch. No further damage was done to the aircraft or property.

Fastteam rep shields contacted the Asheville airport and discussed the lack of signage where the taxi line meets the ditch. A barrier is going to be installed to prevent this from happening again. No other action taken.
