From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot was flying his aircraft N2838Z from Soldotna airport (sxq ) to a private airstrip, gaede (7AK3) lat/long: 60-28-34.9390N/ 151-09-58.0090W , 4 nautical miles west of departing airport(sxq). The pilot stated he did a fly by and noted orientation of airfield wind sock, which indicated a cross wind, then lined up for an approach accordingly. He then stated he came in too fast and too high. The aircraft bounced once on touch down and struck a snow pile at the end of the runway.
