From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot reported that on approach to conduct a low approach over a private field in Bowdoinham Maine, he switched fuel tanks, left to right, and applied carburator heat. He stated that when he began to climb, and shut carburator heat off, the engine quit over the west end of the runway at about 150 feet altitude. The pilot made a right turn and landed northbound in the southbound lane of interstate 295. Upon inspection of the aircraft, fuel was found in both fuel tanks, the fuel screen was removed and appeared clean, and fuel in the bowl appeared to be clean.
