From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 5/19/17, N262WF departed on a VFR flight from lake norman airpark (14A) to Rowan County Airport (kruq) with the intention to practice landings. N262WF entered left downwind for runway 20. After reducing the power to begin a descent to land, the pilot did not extend the landing gear as he was distracted by a large bird in his flight path. He maneuvered to miss the bird and continued with his approach. Throughout the rest of the approach and landing, the pilot never verified that the landing gear was down. The monowheel plane came to a stop on the runway with damage to the tire and propeller.
