From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed ttn enroute to gai on a IFR flight plan. At 1350 local approximately 15NM nw of phl the pilot declared an emergency and reported loss of oil pressure and requested to land at oqn. He attempted to divert to oqn but the engine started vibrating violently and lost almost all engine power to continue to fly. He conducted an emergency landing to an unimproved open area approximately 3.5 NM west of qon. Just prior to touch down the left wing impacted with a telephone pole close to the root of the wing shearing the wing off and spilling all fuel from that wing tank . The aircraft continued another 100 feet and came to rest in an open field. The left landing gear was sheared off from impact of ground and the left side horizontal stabilator and elevator impacted a cement pole. The probable cause of the accident has been determined to be a mechanical engine failure. The aircraft sustained substanticial damage. The pilot was not injured.
