From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

^Alan chaney, ^the pilot in command of N7616R had inadvertantly left approximately 12 inches of his seatbelt tail hanging out of the closed aircraft door prior to departing kful for a flight to kcma on 06/11/2017. After departing kful at 15:46PST and climbing to approximately 45OO', ^Mr. Chaney^ heard a loud clanging sound that he attributed to a possible engine problem. As a precaution for an unknown problem, ^Mr. Chaney^ declared an emergency and diverted to klgb where he landed safely at 16:02PST. Upon the end of his taxi to ross aviation, it was observed by the responding airport fire department captain that a length of seatbelt was hanging out of the closed aircraft door. The seatbel appeared to have been slapping the fuselage in flight causing the metallic clanging noise heard by ^Mr. Chaney^. No damage to the aircraft was noted.
