From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 6/17/2017, N872WT, an SR-20 aircraft was landing on runway 16R at kvny.

Upon a normal touchdown, the nose wheel started to shake, and the nose wheel broke off, and the propeller struck the ground.

The instructor and a student pilot evacuated the aircraft without injury.

The investigation revealed that the nose wheel tube linkage had internal corrosion, and snapped and departed the mounting bracket from the aircraft. This resulted in the nose of the aircraft collapsing and the propeller striking the runway surface.
