From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

PIC landed long on grass/dirt surface parallel to runway 16 (Ells Field).

Runway 16/34 is approximately 2995 ft. PIC attempted to land with minimum distance (EST.1000 ft.)remaining on a grassy/dirt surface which prevented effective aircraft braking distance.

The decision to land the aircraft under less than desirable conditions, rather than " going around" resulted in the aircraft running off the end of the runway thru a heavily wooded area and settling in the field 40FT below airport property.

As the FAA filed it
