From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft departed goodland, KS (gld) with Leavenworth, KS (flv) as the final destination. During landing on runway 16, the tail wheel touched down and the pilot noticed the aircraft was heading toward the right side of the runway. The pilot stated that he may have inadvertently applied the left brake when trying to manipulate the rudder pedal to correct the direction of the aircraft. The aircraft then veered to the left leaving the runway surface coming to rest in the grass area to the left of runway 16. This caused the right landing gear to collapse resulting in the wing and propeller contacting the ground.

As the FAA filed it
