From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Brief description of circumstances surrounding occurrence taken from block 5 of the 8020-9:

Aircraft crashed while attempting to depart 28U. Pilot over corrected and the aircraft rolled.

Pilot's narrative history (description)of flight as reported on page 9 of the NTSB pilot/operator accident/incident report:

Departed caldwell Idaho (eul) direct to vale Oregon (S49) direct to Owyhee Reservoir State (28U). Talked to two campers for 20 minutes then decided to depart. Runway was dirt, gravel & weeds with noticable rutts at one end. When I started the run for takeoff on the left side, I came over a hump before the airplane was ready to fly and bounced, came down and tire hit rut and shot towards sagebrush. I didn't correct direction properly, tried to get off the ground early and then wheels hit the sagebrush and flipped over. This was around 1330-1345 MDT. Airplane still intact, have pictures if needed.

Casual or contributing factors:

Pilot mentioned in our conversation he should not have attempted to use the last 100 feet of the runway due to the deep ruts.

Comments:

None

Recommendations:

Reevaluate runway conditions before beginning takeoff roll.

I am recommending face to face counseling with an operations ASI with emphasis on takeoff performance and operations to (landing) and from (takeoff) unimproved airstrips.

As the FAA filed it
